Up to date..

So this weekend I walked more around the city- went to Trafalgar Sq, the National Portrait Gallery, and the British Museum again. In the NPG there are 2 of my favorite paintings- the Jan Van Eyck Arnolfini Portrait and the Stubbs painting of Whistlejacket. The Stubbs painting is huge and beautiful. So much better in person than in a book.

Today I walked down to Big Ben and listened to it strike noon. Is it bad that all I could think of was AC/DC? Today was a big walking day, now that I think of it. I went all the way down to Parliment which is on the Thames. It's a pretty shitty view so I didn't even cross the street to see the river but I heard it's wonderfully dirty. Just like the Hudson!

Then I walked baaaack up to trafalgar, over to covent garden (which smelled delicious and expensive), looked at more menus at little restaurants, and walked up to school to use the intraweb (ON COMPUTERS!!!). On my way here the pigeons were having a bathing party again. There was one little guy totally into it- lying on his side, lying on his other side, running through the water like an idiot.. They're hysterical. I could watch them all day. This probably means I need to pet something right? If I'm finding the pigeons adorable?

One of the big differences I've noticed here vs nyc is that there are so many more dogs there. I've only seen a handful of pets here. I know that not a lot of people live in london anymore because of the prices, and the majority are students, but still. Maybe I just haven't been going to the right places.

I haven't hopped on a bus since I've been here yet. Transport is damn expensive- maybe thursday I'll test out my public transport prowress...

And now for my question of the day. The 80s are apparently back in London in full force. Right down to those skany boots that people used to stuff their jeans into (and are doing so again). If anyone knows the section of Spiegle's catalog called Together, you know what I mean. That stuff is awful! Why would anyone want to do that?? Back away from the skinny jeans girls... Away from the vintage shoes at Camden Market. It went out of style for a reason! People realized they looked silly! I am not a fashionista in the least... I think there may even be another n in there but whatever. The point is, it looks terrible. And if you're wearing something that the majority of North Adams just threw out 5 years ago, something is wrong...
