Paaaaaaaaapers

So many papers... Let's not talk about them though. Let's talk about the beautiful library that my school has in the main building that I found today. Or the cafeteria under the main building that I found today. I was like a famous explorer who's name I can't think of at the moment because my brain is filled with random facts about archeometry (science applied to archaeology). Not the one who was involved in a mutany or missed america and found india, but the one who stumbled on a place after other people found it ages ago but proceeded to still claim it as their own because they had a flag. That's me. And my flag is my giant messenger bag that I ram people with because they dont get out of my goddammed way. Anyway. All that really matters is that I found it.

I also got some ucl christmas cards! I wanted london christmas cards but everywhere I went people looked at me like I was crazy. Like it'd be so hard to paint a picture of big ben and stick a wreath next to it.. It's Christmas for cripes sake! If I can't rub in that I'm studying in London to all of my friends and family on Jesus's birthday, when can I???

Happy day after thanksgiving!

My Tday meal consisted of a half order of fish and chips and doing a pub crawl by the Farringdon tube station. I also got to see someone drink a beer out of a shoe.

For Stacey..

I just handed in two papers yesterday.. Oh. My. God. Last night I think my brain fell out of my ass. I did realize though that eventhough I did a bunch of my research ahead of time I have to quit being such a lazy slob and be a bit more academic. Or not, whatever!

The bus drivers here are on strike which could possibly be a bad thing... and then you remember they're British. A strike over here means the unions pick one day a week and then half the people don't work that day. I don't really know this for a fact but that's what the bus drivers are doing. Yesterday they decided to strike so some of the buses didn't run. The majority of them did though. And then next monday they're going to do it again. Someone needs to get them in touch with the baggage handlers or the garbage unions in the US...

I had class at the British Museum today. You know you're all jealous.

Re: All of these famous people in London. I do not ever see them. Ever. I'm always as amazed as you guys at home when I see pictures of Michael Jackson, Lindsay Lohan, and Gwen Stefani. They're usually in Notting Hill or Oxford St, though. Notting Hill I dont go to because it's where the rich people live and there really isn't much more to see. Oxford St I don't go to because I will buy things.

Last night in celebration of my two papers being handed in I went to a Thai/chinese buffet (not like golden corral thank you very much) and made them regret letting me in. I made a pig of myself, but I got my £6 worth! We also went to this pub in our village to celebrate the arrival of Lily's boyfriend. It was super trendy and the kid (looked about 16) couldn't pour a beer to save his life. Jen got hers half price because it was all head. I should have said something about my Guinness but didn't because I'm a schmuck. All in all a good night.

Enjoy your turkey you jerks.

Um.. Erm.. TOO MUCH PRESSURE!

To think of a title, that is. All sorts of people here are asking me questions about my dissertation and essays and I just blink all wide eyed and continue about my day. Seriously. I have no idea what's going on, I just keep reading and taking notes.

Reading week is this coming week, so no real classes. However there's an Island Archaeology conference on monday I'm going to (free food!) that has some stuff about Cyprus and I'm going to try and finish my papers. Short as they are, they're a monster pain in my ass. What's this about having to come up with your own ideas? I can write a research paper like it's my job, but own ideas? I'm supposed to have those?

Guy Fawkes is Sunday and we have the best spot in town for fireworks. I know this because there's been fireworks lit EVERY GOD DAMNED NIGHT SINCE WE'VE MOVED IN.

new! improved!

I know I haven't done this in a bit but it's been hard to get away with with everyone in the computer lab all the time...

We finally got our wardrobes last night, only Lily's has a door though. The required hanging equipment is in there so clothes are hung! I'm usually able to steal the internet late at night (late for me) so I'm online usually between 10-12/1 my time if you want to try and catch me. It goes in and out though so I'm not guarranteeing any serious talks.

Lily straightened my hair last weekend and other than a slight burn on the side of my neck, I'm in love with the hair iron. She laughed and told me she was going to send me home high maintainance. Seriously though, it used to take me 8 minutes to get ready to go to work. Now it's around 45 minutes (MUST HAVE TEA!). Going out is another matter entirely. I imagine (hope) that this will all change when I come home to Averill Park and get a good dose of barn and woods living.
